I will be present today when the course for the German Championships in Erfurt is presented and I am really happy that they are taking place in my hometown. On June 26, a week before the start of the Tour de France, my friend and teammate Tony Martin and I will do all we can so that one of us can be at the start of the Tour de France wearing the German champion’s jersey. It won’t be easy, more likely impossible, for the two of us to control the field. So we hope to be in the right place at the right time. I am very much looking forward to riding this pro race in Thüringen, which has a long tradition of cycling. Of course it is only possible with the support of many enthusiastic cycling partners and helpers. Many thanks again for that.

After the Three Days of de Panne, my attention is now focused on the Scheldeprijs on Wednesday. On the last day of de Panne I won a stage and so came out of the race with a very good feeling. That makes me optimistic for the "Sprinters’ Classic".
